Day 10: Thursday 21 January 2016

This morning we woke up bright and early to begin our day. Being a Thursday, many of the children were attending school right across from the orphanage. Brittany and I ended up spending a lot of time in the physical therapy room in the morning. Part of the supplies offloaded from the TS Kennedy included a large massage table for the orphanage. Many of the handicapped children require massages to help stretch out their legs. Brittany ended up helping a mother of a volunteer massage a little boy. While Brittany was helping over at the massage table, I ended up rocking a little girl who only stopped crying when she was being held.

After a while we ended up back outside with Dan playing with a few of the toddlers before lunch. Mike, the birthday boy, and John joined us around this time after their walk from Vacation Village. We helped with feeding the children, again today. When the children began arriving back from school we broke out the stickers and bubbles again. The kids loved playing with all the new toys, and they especially loved taking pictures! In the early afternoon, Brittany, Dan, and I began to say our goodbyes. We all went into the experience knowing it was going to be hard, but I don’t think any of us expected how hard leaving would be.

While John and Mike began their overnight experience at the orphanage, Brittany, Dan, and I headed back to Kay Kok on motorcycles. About halfway through the drive, Brittany’s motorcycle hit a rock and got a flat tire, so she had to jump on the back of mine. We had three people and two completely filled backpacks on one motorcycle, which made for quite a ride. We eventually made it back, and headed to Vacation Village for a relaxing evening.
