Day 1- Chris
This was the day that the group had been waiting for. I had a tough time falling asleep the night before due to the anticipation. Slowly the families started to show up and introduce themselves to each other. Everyone checked their bags at the kiosk and we sat chated, waiting for everyone to show up.
When everyone arrived, we said our goodbyes to the parents and headed through security. As we boarded the realization of going to Haiti started to kick in. After the three hour flight we touched down to the sunny airport of Miami.
Today was primarily a travel and briefing day. This was the first time the group had been together for an extended time together and we started to gel very well. A well working group is a key fundamental aspect when traveling to a foreign country. Later that night we had a meeting to discuss our travel plans for tomorrow because it was going to be a long and exhausting day, and we would be traveling from 0430 to late that afternoon on three modes of transportation. We learned about the basics of traveling through a foreign country such as Haiti because we had to be cautious all the time to avoid any mishaps. At this point everyone was pretty excited to be leaving the next day. After the briefing we went to early in order to be well rested for the next day.
